Isaac Luke has been handed a two match ban for a dangerous tackle in the Kiwis' Four Nations loss to England, while teammate Jeremy Smith will miss one match for striking.

Luke wrenched the leg of England halfback Rangi Chase during the 28-6 loss at Hull and Smith was later put on report for striking fullback Sam tomkins with his forearm.

NRL rules allow the players to serve their suspensions in pre-season matches meaning Luke will be sidelined until the Rabbitohs' season opener against the Roosters and Smith will miss a pre-season match for the Cronulla Sharks.

The players are also ineligible for selection for the NRL All Star match in February.

The Kiwis are still deciding whether to contest the charges.
