The Kangaroos have had their first taste of real English weather with drizzle and cold temperatures greeting them for Tuesday's first training run in Leeds.
The session, the first since last Saturday's 20-all draw with New Zealand, focused on ironing out the chinks that seemed to stagnate the much-vaunted backline in their opening game of the Four Nations tournament.
"We spoke about a few things in defence and attack that we think didn't really work for us and things we need to improve on," fullback Billy Slater said.
"It's important that we try and fix those things this week and we need to win this game this weekend - it's very important that we prepare well this week."
Asked about the cold snap, Slater said it was just part of playing in England.
"We're here to do a job, not worry about the weather," he said.
"We're not here on a holiday, so it's important that we focus on that."
Coach Tim Sheens ran several players who did not feature against the Kiwis in Tuesday's session, though he said he remained undecided as to the make-up of the side to play England in Wigan on Saturday.
England prop and former Sydney Roosters firebrand Adrian Morley said the hosts were expecting a far more polished Australian performance than the disjointed effort offered up against New Zealand.
"I thought Aussies looked a little underdone," Morley said.
"They haven't had a warm-up match like England and the Kiwis. They still looked very dangerous."
