This year's NRL season is being tipped as the year of the fullback and no-one is more happy about that than Warrior Lance Hohaia.
A new rule is set to give teams more time to counter attack with players in front of the kicker no longer allowed to begin chasing until the ball is over their heads.
Hohaia has been confirmed by Warriors coach Ivan Cleary as first choice fullback ahead of Wade McKinnon.
Hohaia was fullback for the World Cup winning Kiwis but Cleary had previously preferred to rotate him between fullback, centre and the halves and also use him as an impact player off the bench.
The young flyer says he is thrilled with the permanent position.
"I'm definitely stoked and excited to be starting."
And he is pleased about the rule change and the chances it will offer to show off his pace.
"It's definitely going to be a lot better not having as many chasers breathing down your throat when you're catching balls," Hohaia says.
The Warriors kick off their season against the Titans on Sunday on the Gold Coast.
