Two years after quitting the Kiwis, Brian "Bluey" McClennan is back in New Zealand.

The man who masterminded one of New Zealand rugby league's greatest moments tells ONE Sport he has no regrets about signing with UK club Leeds.

He is supposed to be back in New Zealand on holiday but admits that he has been on the phone with current Kiwis coach Stephen Kearney about the upcoming Four Nations tournament.

"Having contracted Stephen for another four years, I think is brilliant...it brings stability," says McClennan.

He is not certain how the Four Nations tournament will go for the Kiwis.

"Personally I'm not that bothered. I hope they do (win) but the key is to get the team right to win the World Cup ... I think they're going about it the right way."

Since leaving the Kiwis role, where he coached the team to a Tri-Nations title in 2005, he has won back to back Super League titles and a world club title and he knows his future plans are of interest to league fans.

He is coy on whether he will seek an NRL job or a return to a national coaching role in the future, but admits his work is not finished in the UK.

"As a club at the Rhinos we haven't won the Challenge Cup and we'd love to do that and also we'd like to continue our successes and hopefully a bit of a dynasty."
