Robyn Paterson

Robyn joins Queer Nation in 2004 having recently returned from travelling and working in the UKs queer capital, Brighton, and Greeces infamous island of Lesbos. She has a passion for filmmaking - her comic short Straight Hike for the Butch Dyke screened recently at the Out Takes film festival and she is a member of Reel Queer.

Robyn comes from a working background in the theatre, advertising, and book publishing industries. She has also worked in the community sector, including her most recent role as the Director of Y-Dub, a national young womens network.

She grew up in Zimbabwe and later Dunedin as the daughter of a Presbyterian minister, and knows how hard it is to come out in a conservative environment. She is proud that her father is now actively supportive of gay & lesbian issues within the church.

Robyn comes to Queer Nation determined to help work towards a time in which we dont wake up to headlines that force us to justify our existence. She is based in Wellington where she lives with her partner, Paula, and their soon-to-be baby!
