Brodie Kane studied a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science and Mass Communication and a Graduate Diploma in Journalism, both from Canterbury University.

She started out working at RadioLive as a broadcast journalist in 2007, moved to Newstalk ZB in 2010 and spent most of 2011 travelling around the world.

Career highlights would include winning Journalist of the Year at the 2010 Radio Awards, covering the anniversary of the Samoa Tsunami and reporting on the Napier siege in 2010.

Brodie started at TVNZ as associate producer/researcher for Q+A in April 2012.
