Chris Nichol
Chris' work in television began in 1986 when he worked with TVNZ as Associate Producer and Director with the Religious Programmes Unit. He played a key role in developing a range of programme strands including Signs of the Times and The Way We Are as well as producing Praise Be! from 1991 - 1994 and being the NZ Producer on the BBC co-production A Land of Our Own, a programme for Waitangi Day 1990.
Chris is an ordained minister of the Presbyterian Church of Aotearoa New Zealand and has been very involved with ecumenical and inter-church work as a University Chaplain in the late '70s to mid '80s and through close association with the Conference of Churches in Aotearoa New Zealand, the Council for World Mission and the Churches' Broadcasting Commission. He taught a course in Religion, Media and Culture at Victoria University in 2001/2002.
In 1999 Chris founded Mixed Media, a company offering services in radio and television production, media training, presentation, communications systems analysis and strategy development, Public Relations, church relations and mediation.
Primary contracts have included:
- a thorough Communications of seven churches in the Pacific
- production of TVCs for the not-for-profit sector
- facilitation work for the Bioethics Council and the State Services Commission
- Church relations and communications services for Presbyterian Support Central
- consultancy to TVNZ Religious Programmes
Chris is presently General Manager Communications, Fundraising
and Marketing for Presbyterian Support Central. Chris' other
interests include music, malt whisky, all forms of sport,
holidaying in Golden Bay and his family. Chris is married
with three children.
