We talk to Pop's Ultimate Star

It's the morning after you've just won $50,000.

What does your mind turn to? Shoes? Holidays?

Not if you're Joe Cotton, who on Sunday night was crowned Pop's Ultimate Star, beating Nik Carlson in the final.

"I might go see Harry Potter," she laughed, saying she hadn't really thought what she would do with the money.

"I'm coming to terms with the fact that it's all over.

"I'll try to do something sensible with it," she said, thinking she should probably look into trying to buy a house.

But tomorrow it would be back to work on her "day-jobs" at the Edge and singing in her group Mermaids.

And long term, she said she would love to release an album.

She said she was "surprised and really stoked" to have won.

The official show photographer showed her a picture taken of her the exact moment she won. "My face looked so shocked ... a deer stuck in headlights!"

She said all the contestants deserved a lot of credit for being on the show, and that everyone had had their fair share of criticism for taking part.

"This is our career, what we love to do... people need to step back and realise we are just people."

Joe said she had kept on eye on various websites over the course of the show, and said some of the things being said on message boards, including ours, were "just ridiculous".

She posted a few messages on our board "to straighten this out", but wondered whether it did more harm than good. And even today another website had been asking whether she lip synched in the show, she laughed.

"When you put yourself out there you have to accept (those sorts of comments).

"People form their own opinion regardless. What can you do..."

But she said she was so grateful to everyone who had supported her over the course of the show.

"I'm just so blown away by all the support."
