The government is about to move on Royal Commission recommendations that Auckland become a supercity under one regional authority.

Local Government Minister Rodney Hide says Cabinet will on Monday consider a report he has prepared relating to the commission's findings.

Hide says high level decisions are likely to be made shortly and he indicates changes could be made to the proposal as recommended.

He also acknowledges there are concerns about mandatory Maori representation on the proposed regional authority but says there are also interests in getting Maori views reflected.
