Talks are continuing to thrash out a joint bid by Maori TV, TVNZ, and TV3 for free to air broadcast rights for the 2011 Rugby World Cup.

The arrangement brokered by the Prime Minister and the Maori Party leader is aimed at avoiding the embarrassing scenario of two rival bids both funded by the taxpayer.

Network representatives met at Government House in Auckland late on Wednesday.

The Prime Minister's office says while they aren't quite there yet, all those involved are working constructively towards putting forward one joint bid to the IRB.

Talks will today continue on Thursday.
