Aucklander's are doing the talking and politicians the listening, as Auckland's move towards a Supercity enters to its next phase.

A parliamentary select committee has now headed to Auckland for a marathon round of public hearings.

The Auckland Governance Legislation Select Committee will sit for 12 hours a day for the next four weeks, hearing around 800 oral submissions on the changes.

There have been almost 2,500 submissions on the changes

Committee chairman John Carter says it's really a chance for people to add to their written comments.

He says territorial authorities and the regional council will get 45 minutes, while people from organisations or experts will get 15.

Carter says people submitting on a single issue will get between five and 10 minutes.

The hearings begin on Monday at Barrycourt Accommodation and Events Centre in Parnell, moving to Silverdale on Friday

The committee will sit from 9am to 9pm each day.
