Protesters decry "pathetic" wage increase

There have been angry protests around the country in a bid to lift the minimum wage.

Protesters have gathered outside National MPs' offices from Whangarei to Invercargill.

UNITE union says people are protesting against the "pathetic" 25 cent increase in the minimum wage.

Campaigns officer Joe Carolan says people are struggling to make ends meet on $420 a week.

Joe Carolan says protesters are also against proposed increases to GST, tax cuts for those in the higher tax brackets and a reintroduction of youth rates.
