Police have confirmed that a complaint about former minister Richard Worth's sexual conduct has been withdrawn.
They say the decision to withdraw the complaint was made by the Korean businesswoman woman who lodged a complaint against Worth's behaviour in a Wellington hotel room.
They say at no time did they suggest she do that and that the decision was hers alone.
It is claimed the incident with the woman involved drinking wine at a function, heading back to a hotel room where she felt tired, went to bed and then woke up to see Worth standing there naked.
It is alleged further sexual contact then took place.
The complaint sparked the end of the former MPs political career.
Worth resigned from parliament last month after the Prime Minister said he had washed his hands of him.
Police then also confirmed they were investigating him.
Another claim of sexual harassment also emerged from a Labour Party member, who said he had sent her vulgar text messages.
Police say they are still assessing all the information in their file on Worth and will not be making any further comment until that process is complete.
Worth has always maintained that while he's been unwise at times, he's never committed a crime.
Worth's lawyer Paul Dacre says his client is pleased the complaint has been withdrawn.
He says Worth needs some quiet time to reflect on recent events before commenting further.
Prime Minister John Key says he is happy with his handling of the situation.
"I've got no intention of revisiting it," he said on Friday.
