PM stands by Hide over partner's trip

The Prime Minister has defended Act leader Rodney Hide and his $50,000 overseas trip with his girlfriend.

The former "perk-busting" MP was outed last week for taking his partner on a trip that included the United States, the UK and Canada.

But John Key says he's not going to take any action over the Local Government Minister's jaunt.

Key says each MP takes responsibility for whether they use the perk or not.
