Senior Maori Party and electorate officials are gathering at a hui in Kaitaia to discuss MP Hone Harawira and his political future.

The meeting is to decide what action, if any, will follow recent controversial incidents involving the Te Tai Tokerau.

They will discuss his skipping a parliamentary delegation meeting in Europe to go sight-seeing in Paris and the expletive ridden e-mail he sent to a critic.

Maori Party President Whatarangi Winiata will be at the hui but party co-leaders Tariana Turia and Pita Sharples will not be attending.

The hui is expected to run for three hours.
