The deputy leader of the Libertarianz Party, Sean Fitzpatrick, is to stand in next month's Mana by-election.
The by-election, to be held on November 20, is to elect an MP to replace Labour's Winnie Laban who has resigned from parliament.
Fitzpatrick, a local martial arts instructor, claims the other parties, especially Labour, treat the people of Mana as "incompetent serfs to be guided and goaded" and take their electoral support for granted.
By contrast, he said, the Libertarianz Party has an optimistic and positive view of the electorate's people.
"They are hard working, generous and independent - the kind of folk all Kiwis pride themselves in being.
"This election is a chance for the good people of Mana to start taking control of their own lives by voting Libertarianz."
