Labour wants the government to come clean on its privatisation agenda.
Auckland Issues spokesman Phil Twyford says National and Act have decided to repeal the requirement on councils to consult the public before they privatise assets or contract out services.
Twyford says the move is clearly designed to pave the way for privatisation of community-owned assets.
He says people should be worried about their water being sold off. Twyford says the government recently announced it wants private companies to own NZ's water structure for periods of up to 35 years.
Twyford says polls consistently show more than 80% of Kiwis oppose privatisation.
