Labour confident on bill to 'Mondayise' holidays

Labour is confident it has the numbers for its bid to change holiday laws.

Parliament will next week debate Labour MP David Clark's Member's Bill which proposes Mondays become public holidays when Waitangi Day and Anzac Day fall on a weekend.

Party Leader David Shearer says it looks like they have the numbers to pass the Bill, and it will be the first time the Government loses a vote on a Bill in the House this term.

It is understood all parties, bar ACT and National, intend supporting the Bill.
