Hone Harawira is sticking to his guns, saying he will not leave the Maori Party.
The party's hierarchy says he has been acting as an independent so should consider leaving the party to become an independent MP. They say he has been breaking the party's core values and commitments.
However in his Northland Age column published on Tuesday, Harawira says despite the suggestions, he is not leaving the party.
He says their strength is in numbers and a commitment to a common goal.
Harawira says he's working on a plan to help the party and its caucus move positively into the future.
Meanwhile, parliament is to begin a two-week session without Harawira who is conducting a series of hui in his electorate, talking with supporters and party members about his future.
It's thought his parliamentary colleagues may move to exclude him from the party's caucus at their meeting on Tuesday.
Harawira has made qualified apologies for offensive language he used in an email to a supporter who criticised him for making a side-trip to Paris while on official business.
