Phil Goff has admitted the Labour Party has made mistakes and it now has to work through what went so wrong.

Labour's new leader is working on reshuffling shadow cabinet, and is expected to reveal the new lineup after John Key.

Goff has expressed his support for the work outgoing Labour president Mike Williams has done, and has vowed to freshen up the party with the likely new president, Andrew Little.

Goff says, under his leadership, Labour will look at what it can learn from its election experience.

He says what Labour's shortcomings might have been may pale into insignificance depending on the policies the National-led government puts forward.
