The government is being urged to come clean about which state services will get the chop.

It follows Thursday's Budget policy statement, painting a gloomy economic outlook for next year.

Council of Trade Union Economist Peter Conway is concerned after the government signalled some public services could be affected.

He says the government needs to actually explain what that means.
