Former Prime Minister Helen Clark has arrived in New York for interviews over a top United Nations posting.

Clark is applying for a position to head the UN Development Programme and a spokesman from her office this morning confirmed she had been shortlisted.

Prime Minister John Key has said Clark's bid for the job would come with full endorsement from the Government.
