Businessman Tenby Powell looks set to enter the Auckland super city mayoral race.

He said he will launch a campaign for the mayoralty if John Banks continues to trail in the polls.

He is a former executive of the company which owns Hirepool and Port-a-Loo.

Powell says while he is not a politician, he believes he can add a lot in the way of leadership.
