ACC bill goes before parliament

A bill increasing ACC levies and reducing some entitlements will have its first reading on Tuesday evening.

Last week the Act Party pledged support for the legislation and in return the government agreed to bring forward work on opening up the work account to competition.

The work account, which covers personal injuries in the work place, is the only profitable account for ACC.

The Maori Party agreed to support the bill through its first reading in parliament but Act have agreed to back it all the way.
