Standard Specification for Commercials
A commercial supplied should adhere to the following
specifications:
1. One minute colour bars and tone
2. A minimum of 15 seconds of ID (or slate) *1
3. Two seconds exactly of black and silence
4. The commercial content *2
5. Ten seconds minimum black and silence
Notes:
*1. ID is just that. It may include an optional countdown
from ten as part of the ID but the commercial identification must
be present up until two seconds prior to the start of the
commercial. Aspect ratio information must also be included on the
ID Board.
*2. The commercial content should commence at exactly 01:00:00:00
time code or the unofficial 00:01:30:00 standard if the production
house's editing system is not capable of handling a zero time code
edit.
These are required to meet operations functions of the Seachange
Ingest Server. The commercial ID ensures the correct identification
of each TVC. This specification applies to all commercials supplied
to TVNZ.
AUDIO
The following information should be
noted:
1. The audio is to be either stereo (left audio on track 1, right
audio on track 2) or dual mono with both track 1 and track 2
identical
Commercials containing extraneous audio on track 2 not intended for
broadcast will not be accepted
ASPECT RATIO
As from 1st February 2009 all NEW commercial material should be
supplied in 16:9 FHA (4:3 graphic safe).
KEY NUMBER
The following standards will come into force from 1
April 2009:
A typical key number will include no more than 12
alphanumeric characters. Dashes, slashes and hyphens are treated as
spaces and are ignored.
The key number must identify the advertiser and duration of the
commercial as well as contain a unique reference for each piece of
material supplied by the advertiser. The correct format is
advertiser/duration/material reference (e.g. ABC 030 0001). This
ensures that no advertiser will ever have two commercials with the
same last four digits.
Only technical corrections should be denoted with an 'R' suffix.
Any changes to the actual contents on the commercial require a new
key number.
