As a former All Black with 10 test matches under his belt, and a
current member of the Auckland Blues squad, Steve Devine is no
stranger to tough physical challenges.
Generally a pretty happy-go-lucky sort, when he does need to blow
off steam he does it with "exercise, beers, or taking myself off
for a little walk somewhere." Steve admits there were difficult
times on the island, and that his biggest challenge was "not having
a major meltdown on camera."
Like most newcomers to Treasure Island, he couldn't entirely
predict the effect that island life can have on even the most
seasoned athlete.
"I had no idea how we would be living, and I didn't think it would
be so tough trying to live, eat, and sleep... I was quite surprised
by that."
