About Ours
Ours is a New Zealand nature series for kids, exporing our rare and native creatures and fascinating geological areas.
Ours is really accessible to New Zealand children and respects their intelligence.
Producer/director/narrator Emma Heke says, "Young children have a lot of natural empathy and I want to stir in their hearts and minds a passion for what we've got here in Aotearoa and ways to look after our treasures."
The episodes are alphabetic, with six episodes containing more than one letter.
You'll soon hear children saying things like "A is for ancient!"
The content is created especially for three- to seven-year-olds and features our unique land, creatures and environment, engaging children in learning to look after our treasures.
Ours is refreshingly 'real', with a Kiwi-mum narrator and low-tech style that makes it really accessible to children.
Gentle guitar music by Nelson artist/musician Luke Hancock accompanies high-definition digital video footage and the voiceover narration respects our children's intelligence. There is nothing cutesy-kiddie about Ours!
Nationwide feedback indicates that children are enthralled with Ours and there's a noticeable calm after watching it!
