Exciting Matamata stayer Green Supreme will start a short-priced favourite in the $200,000 Pacific Jewellers Wellington Cup at Trentham today.

On the TAB's betting market this morning the Graham Richardson-trained Green Supreme was the warm favourite paying $3.40 to win.

Green Supreme has been the star stayer of the summer as he has swept through the grades with his latest hat-trick of successes culminating in victory in the Dunstan Feeds Championship Final at Ellerslie.

Champion jockey James McDonald will be aboard Green Supreme and will be looking to add to his Group 1 Telegraph Handicap win at Trentham last weekend.

Richardson has enjoyed a golden run this season and not only will he line up Green Supreme in the Wellington Cup but he also has Single Minded and Top Spot engaged and each one of the trio is a definite winning chance.

Single Minded and Top Spot confirmed their Wellington Cup prospects with their first and third placings respectively in the City Of Auckland Cup at Ellerslie on January 1.

The major opposition to the Richardon runners is likely to come from Blood Brotha, Cassini and Crocodile Canyon.

The other main feature at today's Trentham meeting is the Thorndon Mile where Shez Sinsational and Smoulder are two of the leading hopes.

Selections:

(1) Bella Vi, Oxborough Magic, The Knight.
(2) Trapiche, Viva Rome, Shandream.
(3) Mungo Jerry, No Credit, Savarhys.
(4) Rasteau, Seducer, Midnight Senorita.
(5) Testra Secret, Artistic, Capital Diamond.
(6) Shez Sinsational, Smoulder, Sadist.
(7) Pero, Guns At Five, Endor.
(8) Green Supreme, Single Minded, Crocodile Canyon.
(9) L'Amour, New Order, Riotous.
(10) Life's In A Spin, O'Stellar, The Prince.
Best Bet: Shez Sinsation.
