The struggling Super Bowl champion Pittsburgh Steelers could be missing several starters including receiver Hines Ward in Friday's game against the Cleveland Browns, coach Mike Tomlin said on Tuesday.
Ward hurt his hamstring and cornerback William Gay suffered a concussion in Sunday's upset by the Oakland Raiders that dropped Pittsburgh to 6-6, and All-Pro safety Troy Polamalu is expected to miss his fourth straight game with a knee injury.
The home defeat to the Raiders extended Pittsburgh's losing streak to four and made them a longshot to qualify for the playoffs.
"You got to acknowledge the potential that this could be a shaken group," Tomlin told reporters, according to the team's website (steelers.com). "We swallowed a lot here of late."
