Walker wins BMX World Championships

New Zealanders Sarah Walker has won the UCI BMX World Championships in Adelaide.

Walker (Kawerau) was in thoroughly dominant forcing her way through on the inside lane to take the lead on the first corner. Three riders went down at the back of the pack but Walker just rode away to win by a second in a superb 31.87.

Earlier Alexandra Williams (Pakuranga) produced a strong performance in her first world championship final, finishing sixth and was far from disgraced with her highly creditable sixth placing.

On Sunday is the Cruiser Class world championships (larger diameter wheel size) with Sarah Walker competing.
