NZ Triathlete Kris Gemmell
Kiwi Olympians from two different sports will go head to head in Wellington in the New Zealand 3000 metre championship on Friday night.
Triathlete Chris Gemmell is taking to the track for the first time since he was a kid, running the 3000 metres to enhance his preparation for this year's tri series.
The aim is boost his base speed to compete against the new breed of tri-stars who run 10 kilometres in under 29 minutes.
Gemmell says there is no better challenge than to line up alongside Olympic 1500 metre medallist, Nick Willis.
He says he's nervous and just hopes he will get close enough to learn something from Willis
The triathlete also faces the issue of what to wear; running shorts, or his lycra suit.
Gemmell says he will stick to the traditional running kit for fear of scaring the opposition.
