The Manx Thoroughbred
In a day they thought not suited to him Cav proved yet again (with a little help from his friends) that he is developing into one of the all time greats to take his fifth stage win this Tour.
His Columbia team mates dragged him over the cat 2 climb of the Col de l'Escrinet, then threw him at the line with a gap big enough for Cav to send a postcard to second placed Thor.
So, despite clearly having the best gallop in the world, he is now 25 points down on Thor's Green jersey (how did that happen?).
The only way Cav can get Green in Paris is to get Thor done for dodgy sprinting on the Champs, but who would stoop so low, eh Thor?
Rabobank - nil Points
The day was dominated by a couple of 'let's get on the telly' breaks, yet again occupied by Irish champ Roche.
Since the big hitters were having a day off, it wasn't until Rabobank started to wind things up for their sprinter come rouleur Freire that we saw any movement from the pack.
A cheeky little attack right on the last climb from world champ Ballan and Frenchman Lefevre could have spoiled things, but then the Columbia-HTC train started firing.
Sneaky Seconds for Third
Did you see a sneaky AlphaStrong gain a few more seconds over Wiggo as the bunch split over the line?
This is how he does it Wiggo, now you've got to drop Lance by over 15 seconds on Sunday to gain that podium in Paris, and you know he won't go down without a fight! Tut, tut Wiggo!
Bit of a Bump
Watch out for Sunday's stage around the scenic Provence, its got a bit of a bump right at the end and may come as a surprise for some.
