Talks continue over Hockey India League

Published: 6:26PM Wednesday December 19, 2012 Source: ONE Sport/Newstalk ZB

Men's Black Sticks Simon Child and Nick Wilson are still waiting to find out whether they will be able to play the entire Hockey India League.

Hockey New Zealand and the Hockey Players' Association have been unable to reach a new memorandum of understanding after negotiations today.

The new agreement is expected to encapsulate the future availability of players in the tournament.

Child and Wilson were the only Black Sticks picked up in the auction for the tournament, which starts in the middle of next month but a national training camp starting on February 5 has put a cloud over their involvement.

Black Sticks coach Colin Batch has scheduled the camp which begins five days before the tournament is due to finish.

The two parties have agreed to extend the current memorandum of understanding until the end of March next year as negotiations continue.
