The Washington Redskins added some insurance for Jason Campbell by signing free agent quarterback Rex Grossman, the team said Thursday.

Grossman, 29, has played in 37 games during his seven-year career, completing 524-of-971 passes for 6,197 yards and 33 touchdowns, with 36 interceptions.

He played last season with the Houston Texans, after spending the first six years of his career with the Chicago Bears. In 2006, Grossman led the Bears to a 13-3 record and their first Super Bowl appearance since 1985.
