In-form Netherlands rallied to draw 2-2 with holders Germany in their Pool A match on Monday as both teams stayed in contention for semi-final places at the men's hockey World Cup.

Skipper Teun de Nooijer scored the equaliser in the 65th minute to help the impressive Dutch take one point after Oliver Korn and Jan Marco-Montag scored second-half goals to give Olympic champions Germany a 2-1 lead.

Wouter Jolie scored off a penalty corner to put Netherlands, who won their three previous matches, ahead in the 23rd minute.

Argentina pulled off a surprise 1-0 win over New Zealand for their first victory in the competition and South Korea thumped Canada 9-2 in the day's other Pool A matches at the Dhyan Chand National Hockey Stadium.

Jang Jong-hyun scored three goals and Nam Hyun-woo and You Hyo-sik scored two each as South Korea recorded their second win in the competition.

Germany, who are bidding for a third successive title, are two points behind leaders the Netherlands and will play New Zealand on Tuesday. Netherlands face third-placed South Korea in their last pool match.

European champions England on Saturday became the first team to clinch a semi-final place from pool B with four successive victories.
