New Zealand rowers emerged with mixed results on the second day of the world championships in Poznan, Poland on Monday night (NZT).
Following Sunday's opening session, when seven of the eight New Zealand crews qualified directly for the semifinals, Monday was a relatively quiet affair.
Lightweight men's double scullers Storm Uru and Peter Taylor eased to victory in a slow heat to qualify for the semis.
Their time of seven minutes 12.84 seconds was easily enough to hold off second-placed Greece but was 40sec slower than what they achieved at Lucerne last month when winning the second of their two World Cup titles this year.
Uru and Taylor were the seventh-fastest qualifiers, with Frenchmen Jeremie Azou and Frederic Dufour setting the pace with 7min 05.92sec.
The lightweight men's four of Richard Beaumont, Todd Petherick, James Lassche and Graham Oberlin-Brown struggled to the 15th best time and will line up in repechages on Wednesday.
They were fourth in their heat but a time of 6min 48.26 was nearly 15sec off the pace set by Germany.
Also facing a repechage are the quadruple sculls of Genevieve Armstrong, Louise Trappitt, Sarah Barnes and Harriet Austin, who were easily the slowest of eight crews in two heats.
