Experienced reinsman Ricky May equalled the record number of winning drives in the Christchurch Casino New Zealand Cup when he won the $600,000 event at Addington Raceway today with short-priced favourite Terror To Love.
It was the sixth Cup success for May equalling the mark attained previously by champion driver Cecil Devine.
May said Terror To Love was a super horse. He looked to be hopelessly placed 200m from the finish but then he produced a great sprint.
He is a horse who improves every time he goes to the races, May said.
Terror To Loves form this season cannot be faulted. Prior to his NZ Cup victory he had also won the New Brighton Cup and Ashburton Stakes in dominant fashion.
Trained by Graham and Paul Court, Terror To Love was clearly the best horse in the field in todays race in which he became the 15th horse to score back-to-back wins in the event.
Terror To Love paid $2.30 to win and $1.40 to place and scored from Highview Tommy while Sushi Sushi was third.
