Mark Todd's Beijing Olympic horse Gandalf has died.

The 11-year-old grey has had to be put down because of a serious neurological disorder.

Gandalf has recently suffered seizures which saw him become blind in his right eye and a danger to himself and his handlers.

Todd returned to eventing after an eight year retirement in 2007.

He formed a successful partnership with Gandalf, which ultimately saw them qualify for last year's Olympics where they finished 17th out of 70 competitors.
