Maori TV has upset the promoter of David Tua's most recent fight by trumpeting the ratings boost it got during his fight with Friday Ahunanya last Wednesday.

The network says it pulled its best audience ever and plans to support Tua in the future.

The skiting drew an angry response from the fight promoter David Higgins who called the broadcaster "parasites."

He says the station's got a cheek taking credit after doing almost nothing to promote the fight.

Higgins now says he shouldn't have lost his temper or used the word parasites but he was angry as his team worked hard for six months to make the fight happen and the broadcaster took on very little commercially or financially.

Tua beat Ahunanya on points after 12 rounds .

Maori TV has the rights to Tua's next two fights.
