Double world champion Gary Lawson is now one game away from equalling Nick Unkovich's record 10 titles after defeating the Stoke Bowling Club duo of Jimmy Pugh and David Eades 22-13 in the semi-final with partner Danny Delany.

Lawson and Delany will face Sean O'Neill and Lance Pascoe in Monday's men's pairs final.

The other semi-final saw former New Zealand representative O'Neill and team mate Pascoe destroy Mark Noble from the Johnsonville Bowling Club 26-7 and secure a spot in the final.

In the women's singles favourite Jan Khan from Christchurch is still going strong and will feature in this year's final against fellow Cantabrian Jan Shirley.

Bowls New Zealand National Coach Dave Edwards says both women's singles finalists are class players and have had very good seasons so far.

"Both Jan Shirley and Jan Khan achieved good results recently at the NZ Opens and they are both performing well at a domestic level too in Christchurch," Edwards said.

Saturday sees the first day of post-section in the men's singles and women's pairs disciplines and at the conclusion of Sunday the finalists will be found for the finals day on Monday at the Hutt Bowling Club.
