Three New Zealanders are in line for international recognition after world rowing federation Fisa announced its 2009 awards finalists.

Former coach of the year winner Dick Tonks is in line to repeat his success of 2005, while world champion sculler Mahe Drysdale joins the coxless pair of Eric Murray and Hamish Bond in the final three for male crew of the year.

New Zealand rowing legend Don Rowlands is also in the final three for the Distinguished Service to International Rowing Award.

Rowlands was chairman of the 1978 world championship organising committee in New Zealand, and has dedicated decades of service to rowing in Oceania.
