King takes major squash scalp

New Zealand squash starlet Joelle King has caused a massive upset at the Harrow Greenwich Open in New York today.

The world number 18 is through to the semi-finals of the $48,700 WISPA Tour event, after a 3-1 win over top seed Rachael Grinham. The 22-year-old Kiwi bounced back from a game down to win 6-11, 11-7, 11-9, 14-12.

It is the Commonwealth Games gold medallist's third successive victory over the world number five.

King will now play American qualifier Amanda Sobhy, who also upset a Grinham sister to advance. Sobhy downed third seed Natalie Grinham 10-12, 11-8, 11-9,11-7.
