Ben Fouhy has spoken for the first time since his confusing decision to quit kayaking last week.

The Olympic silver medalist is annoyed SPARC claim he received nearly $50,000 last year despite not competing.

Fouhy says SPARC didn't want the money when he offered to give it back last year after deciding to have a break following the Olympics.

He is annoyed they are insinuating he tried to take a sabbatical and wants to make it clear he never had any expectation that his funding would roll on any further.

Fouhy pulled out of the national trials earlier this month, ruling himself out of the World Championships.

After this most recent spat, he remarks it is unlikely he will ever return to the sport.
