Ferguson sets standard for NZ Kayakers

Steven Ferguson has led the way for the New Zealand kayaking team at the world championships near Halifax, Canada.

The former Olympic swimmer finished second in his semi-finals of the K1 500 and K1 1000 to qualify for Sunday's finals.

The men's crew of Scott Bicknell and Troy Burbidge finished third in their semi-final of the K2 1000, while they have struggled to sixth in their semi-final of the K2 500.

Beijing Olympian Erin Taylor came second in her semi-final of the K1 1000 and fifth in her semi-final of the K1 500, while Lisa Carrington and Teneale Hatton were runners-up in their semi-final in the K2 1000.
