Miami Dolphins running back Ronnie Brown has been placed on the injured reserve list, ending his season, after he suffered a foot injury in Monday's 25-23 win over Tampa Bay.

Brown leads the Dolphins in rushing with 147 carries for 648 yards and eight touchdowns and was a key part of their "wildcat" offence.

Ricky Williams will now take up the main rushing responsibility for the Dolphins (4-5), who face Carolina on Friday, while Nate Ness was signed from the practice squad to replace Brown on the active roster.
