Kiwi boxer Shane Cameron's manager is defending the decision to send the fighter out for a second round against David Tua.

Cameron was on the canvas twice in Saturday night's first round, and lasted just seven seconds of the second before being knocked out.

He was taken to the emergency room after the fight, but was released after a check-up.

His manager, Ken Reinsfield said it was a brutal bout, but Cameron was determined to battle on.

In the break, his team were pouring ice on him and asking him questions to check it was safe to go back into the ring.

Ken Ransfield said Cameron, also known as the Mountain Warrior, is very disappointed but will bounce back from the defeat.

Meanwhile The Sunday Star Times is reporting that David Tua could be lining up a fight with former world champion Hasim Rahman in New Zealand this December.
