Quarterback Derek Anderson has been released by the Cleveland Browns after spending five seasons with them, the team said on Wednesday.
Anderson struggled last year after losing his starting role to Brady Quinn and although he regained his place when his team mate was injured, he failed to impress.
The announcement came a day after the Browns agreed terms, pending a medical, with Seattle Seahawks quarterback Seneca Wallace.
The 26-year-old Anderson, tall for a quarterback at 6-foot-6, was signed on waivers from the Baltimore Ravens in 2005 and was a Pro Bowl selection two years later.
