Otorohanga boxer Daniel MacKinnon, 30, was today discharged from Waikato Hospital's neurosurgery ward.
MacKinnon was admitted to Waikato Hospital on Saturday, November 16, following his light heavyweight title fight with Robert Berridge in Hamilton.
He lost a torrid encounter with "The Butcher" in a 10th-round technical knockout as the main undercard to the David Tua v Alexander Ustinov bout, eventually knocked out of the ring, after hitting the canvas twice in preceding rounds.
After the fight, MacKinnon was admitted to hospital for emergency surgery to relieve the pressure on his brain.
Last week, he was reported as making a good recovering.
"Memory tests were conducted and Dan passed with flying colours," said manager Ken Reinsfield last Wednesday. "He is very chatty and cheeky, and is improving daily."
KidsCan - the nominated charity for December's Fight for Life - have agreed that part of the funds raised from the nights auction will go to the MacKinnon family.
