The Women's Black Sticks side have drawn their second Champions Trophy match against Korea 2-2 today.
The Black Sticks made Korea pay in the first half with Katie Glynn doing well on her own to create the time and space for Cathryn Finlayson to put the first point on the board.
Glynn then scored the second herself, wrong-footing the keeper to smash it home giving her side a well-earned lead at halftime.
Things looked to be continuing in New Zealand's favour when Korea narrowly missed a shot in the first minute of the second half, the ball soaring a foot over the goal.
Sustained pressure from Korea saw Black Sticks keeper Bianca Russell make a good left hand save to stop a penalty corner but the Kiwis were on the back foot as the Koreans began dragging themselves back into the match.
But, New Zealand failed to capitalise on their lead in the second half.
Ten minutes in to the half Korea finally got points on the board with Okju Kim scoring from a well-executed corner penalty.
The Black Sticks appealed against the Koreans deflection-sweep into goal from the initial shot but replays revealed the strike was clean and it was awarded.
The Korean's equaliser came with quarter of an hour left on the clock, keeper Russell forced to watch as the ball deflected off Sophie Devine's stick to lob overhead and into goal to swing momentum Korea's way.
Russell then made two brilliant saves with five minutes left and the match in the balance, deflecting the first and then second Korean strikes at goal when numbers in defence were stretched thin.
The Black Sticks refused to go into their shells however and the tense final minutes included some dogged attacking raids from the both sides.
Finlayson was then penalised for obstruction, the shot was deflected and hit the post to let the Black Sticks off the hook.
Yet another penalty corner against the Black Sticks came in the final minute to ensure one more nervous play remained in the match.
Kiwi hearts looked to have been broken when the strike from Lee Seon Ok snuck past the desperate dive of Russell. But another Black Sticks protest and a review of the video revealed the ball had not travelled outside of the D and the goal was denied.
Korea was desperately unlucky but the Black Sticks will be pleased to have emerged from their second tough pool match without a loss.
The two sides met just 10 days ago in the Four Nations tournament, Korea eventually prevailed 6-4 after the Kiwis had led 2-0, ensuring the Black Sticks had plenty of incentive to register their first win in Argentina after drawing 2-2 with the host nation yesterday.
Black Sticks Coach Mark Hager will be looking for more polish from his team as they look to build and progress further in the tournament.
Black Sticks: 2 (Finlayson, Glynn
goals.).
Korea: 2(Okju Kim, Gim Sung Hee goals).
