New Zealand registered their second draw at the Champions Challenge international men's hockey tournament in Argentina on Friday.

They recovered from a 0-1 halftime deficit to draw 2-2 with China at Salta, a result good enough to ensure they advance from their pool to the semifinals of the eight-nation event.

Having earlier drawn 2-2 with India and beaten Belgium 4-1, New Zealand have earned five points from their three pool matches.

That left them atop the pool ahead of the final match between India and Belgium, the winners of which will top the pool.
